FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – Sep 01, 2009 – PROSSIS has added EMTEK’s Microbial Air Samplers and Controllers to their product offering. The microbial air samplers are designed to operate in a variety of Critical Environments including LAF Hoods, BSCs, Isolators, Sterility Chambers, Fill Lines, Bulk Production Areas and Compressed Air/Gas Systems, but are practical for use in almost any environment.
The patented R2S is a compact industry standard type slit-to-agar microbiological sampler, while the RAS is a sieve impactor type sampler. Utilizing standard 90mm plates for impaction and sample collection, the R2S and RAS samplers provides accurate, reliable and cost effective air analysis results. The streamline design of the RS2 and the RAS samplers allows the units to be placed at critical monitoring points with minimal disturbance of the uni-directional (laminar) air flow in the environment.
The EMTEK line of Microbial Air Samplers are constructed of virtually particulate free materials, which can be sanitized using common disinfectants and cleaners, the sampling heads can be sanitized or steam sterilized to minimize sample contamination. Additionally, the exhaust sample air is 0.2µm filtered to further reduce contamination within the clean environment.
By virtue of being industry standard slit-2-agar and sieve impactor type samplers, validation efforts are simplified. EMTEK and PROSSIS also provides extensive validation and technical support and documentation to help get your microbiological sampling program up and running quickly and efficiently.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to represent EMTEK.” said Peter Rossi, Executive at Large for PROSSIS, “Microbial Samplers are a natural extension to our particle monitoring and control product offerings. Adding the EMTEK range of samplers to our product line, especially now as they are about to release their next generation V100 controller, means we can better serve our clients and customers needs”

There appears to be some confusion about the appropriate method to use in
order to record refrigerator temperature. Whether core temp or air temp is
better and if core temp is monitored at all, what volume of fluid should be
used for the sensor to be placed into. What does the MHRA recommend and
why?
Response
For routine monitoring the MHRA recommends that core probes with a
representative volume (this will differ depending on whether the site handles
primarily paediatric or adult units) are used. The reason core is recommended
is that it gives a direct correlation to the actual condition within the
components, if core probes are used then there should be no delay on the
alarm and the alarms need to be set at 2 – 6ºC. Air probes can be used for
routine monitoring but in this case the site has to demonstrate how this
correlates to the component conditions especially where alarm delays are set
and where the alarm limits do not directly correlate to the BSQR art four
requirements e.g. 2 – 6ºC. Air probes can be problematic as they will show
temperature fluctuations very quickly e.g. door openings and may lead to
nuisance alarms. Air probes are however recommended for mapping

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 24, 2009 – In addition to consulting services PROSSIS (http://www.prossis.com) can now provide CIMTechniques (http://www.cimtechniques.com) products featuring CIMScan monitoring software. CIMScan is a MS-Windows based software package which gathers measurement data from remote devices and compares, displays, and stores the data. If a data value is read beyond the pre-defined limits, the system alerts staff immediately.
The CIMTechniques product range include wired and wireless sensors, for monitoring most environmental parameter, and the associated hardware for optimizing a secure and redundant data acquisition network, while taking advantage of the customer’s existing IT infrastructure to minimize potentially high installation cost.
Using existing servers and Local Area Networks (LAN) presents somewhat of a dilemma, for monitoring critical systems, because they can occasionally go down. “System reliability is of paramount importance when lives are at stake or irreplaceable materials may be lost,” said Peter Rossi Executive at Large for PROSSIS, “and that is why the new CIMScan-6 monitoring system has been created with an elegantly simple, yet extremely reliable architecture”.
CIMScan’s architecture has sensors connected to monitoring stations and, in turn, the monitoring stations are linked to the server over the facility’s existing LAN. The reliability of the system comes from the fact that each monitoring station has the ability to detect alarm conditions on its own, even if the network or server is down, and alert local personnel so that immediate action can be taken. In addition, the monitoring station will record measurement data during the outage and automatically send it to the server when communications are restored. Never again will you have to explain to an auditor why your records show a gap in data.
Every sensor, either wired or wireless, in the CIMScan system is intelligent and has a unique serial number associated with it. Wired sensors connect directly to the monitoring station through a simple plug-in interface called the SensorBus. Wireless sensors can also be linked to a monitoring station through an inexpensive SensorBus receiver.
The CIMScan server is configured so that departments like the blood bank, pharmacy, or laboratory are divided into specific groups. As the measurement data arrives at the server, it is separated and stored in the appropriate group based on the serial numbers. As the data is stored away, it is compared against user-assigned alarm limits and the appropriate action is taken.
“We are very excited to be able to offer this new system to our clients and customers.” said Rossi, “It represents a major breakthrough in installation, configuration, ease of use, and cost savings. It also fits well into our existing cleanroom product offerings and area of expertise. We also see a large potential for using the CIMScan product for energy conservation applications”.
